THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl, who is the daughter of his friend. The arrested has been identified as R Ranjith, a native of Adoor's Anandapilli. The accused is a friend of the child's father. The child was sexually assaulted on the night of June 9 and 11 this year.

The accused stays in Medamukku in Manacaud in Thiruvananthapuram. The accused sexually assaulted the girl while she was sleeping. Adoor police registered a case as informed by the Child Welfare Committee. The accused was caught yesterday from near Thampanoor KSRTC bus stand. He was produced in court and remanded.
