PALAKKAD: The vigilance will conduct an investigation on the incident where the X-ray machine donated to the district hospital was found nibbled by a rat. The complaint was filed by social activist Boban Mattumantha. The Vigilance Ernakulam Unit will investigate the incident.

A private company had in 2021 donated the X Ray machine worth Rs 92.6 lakh to the district hospital. In the agreement made, the hospital had to provide the necessary facilities to run the machine. However, it did not happen.

The incident stoked a controversy when the machine was destroyed by the rat. The health department had submitted a report to the health minister stating that around Rs 31.91 lakh is needed to repair the machine.
