COLOMBO: Team India's batting in the Asia Cup today lost the increased vigour it had against Pakistan. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Indian team was all out for 213 runs in 49.1 overs. Only captain Rohit Sharma (53), K L Rahul (39) and Ishan Kishan (33) scored half-centuries and defended well against Asalanka. Dunit Vellalaghe and Asalanka dismantled the Indian batting.
Left-arm spinner Vellalaghe bowled opener Gill (19) and took five wickets for 40 runs in the last over. Asalanka took four wickets conceding only 18 runs in nine overs. Thikshana conceded 41 runs and took one wicket. Rain interrupted play for a while but then the Indian innings ended at 213 as the match resumed. Lanka who began their batting in reply had scored runs for the loss of a wicket when they finally received the information.
