KOZHIKODE: Health Minister Veena George said that 158 people are on the contact list of the first person who died due to Nipah. 127 people in this contact list are healthcare workers and 31 people are locals. The minister told the media that the list has been classified as high risk and low risk. The second deceased was in contact with more than 100 people.

The minister informed that the test result from the Pune Virology Institute will be available by 8:30 pm and the central health team will reach Kerala tomorrow. The minister added that the route map will be published if the disease is confirmed. Also, the minister said that the Kozhikode control room has started functioning and people should not worry.

At the same time, Minister Mohammad Riyas informed that there should not be any concern. The minister was speaking after a special review meeting to assess the Nipah situation. The Minister stated that there is no need to fear at present and preventive measures have been intensified. The situation in eight panchayats was evaluated.
