KOZHIKODE: The court will pronounce its verdict today in the case involving human rights activist Grow Vasu. The Kundamangalam Judicial First Class Magistrate's Court will pronounce its verdict on Wednesday in the case of a gathering causing traffic congestion on the premises of Kozhikode Medical College when the bodies of Maoist leaders killed in Nilambur were brought. Last day, the case was adjourned to Tuesday for further hearing after the testimonies of witnesses were read out to Vasu. When the court asked on Tuesday if he had any witnesses or evidence to produce, Vasu said no.


When the court asked what the other accused in the case had done, the prosecution stated that the court had acquitted 17 of the total 20 accused and two had paid a fine of Rs 200 each.


The relevant incident took place on November 26, 2016. Vasu was arrested on July 29 after a warrant was issued. The 94-year-old has been in jail ever since.
