DEHRADUN: The Chairman of the Wakf Board, Shadab Shams has informed that approximately 117 madrasas in Uttarakhand are now incorporating the NCERT syllabus into their curriculum. He added that in addition to Islamic theology, students are also being taught Sanskrit alongside their madrasa lessons. Recognizing the significance of modern education, the Wakf Board has decided to introduce a hybrid model of education.

Currently, madrasa students are not only learning Islamic theology and Arabic but are also getting more opportunities to study other subjects through the inclusion of the NCERT syllabus. ‘This syllabus encompasses subjects such as Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Arabic and Sanskrit,’ said the Chairman of the Wakf Board.

The Chief Minister has assured that all necessary assistance will be provided for the education of these children. He emphasized that the government is committed to following in the footsteps of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The hybrid education scheme was initially implemented as a pilot project in Uttarakhand's madrasas. The Board Chairman noted that this scheme was first introduced in four selected institutions: Muslim Colony in Dehradun, Rahmania Madrasa in Roorkee (in Haridwar), Rahmania Madrasa in Khathima, US Nagar and Juma Masjid Madrasa in Ramnagar, Nainital district.

The Chairman also stated that the government is extending full support to the madrasas in the state. He revealed that both the Chief Minister and the education minister have assured comprehensive support, including providing books, uniforms and other essential facilities.
