NEW DELHI: South Korean Ambassador to India, Jae Bok, mentioned that South Korea has a historical connection with Ayodhya. Ambassador Bok explained that this relationship originated from the marriage between an Indian princess and a Korean king, a tale dating back 2000 years. According to historical records, this princess hailed from 'Ayodha' and many believe it is synonymous with today's Ayodhya.
The ambassador expressed his anticipation for an invitation to the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He suggested that both the central government and the Uttar Pradesh government should expand their programs related to the temple's opening to ensure high-level representation from South Korea. Ambassador Bok indicated that India would consider participation if extended an invitation. He emphasized the importance of receiving the invitation well in advance, ideally at least one month before the event, as it would be challenging for high-ranking representatives to attend otherwise.
In the meantime, the General Secretary of the temple trust announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Ram temple. According to temple authorities, potential dates between January 15 and January 24 have been proposed for the inauguration, although a final decision is pending. Officials are working diligently to complete the ground floor construction by December, with the aim of opening the temple to devotees in January 2024.
