KOZHIKODE: More people coming in contact with those confirmed of Nipah virus has been found. 702 people are presently in contact in three cases. There are 371 people in the contact list of the first dead and 281 in the list of the second person. 50 came in contact with the child undergoing treatment. Two health workers show symptoms of the disease. Their samples have been sent for testing.

So far, seven samples have been sent for testing. A mobile lab of Pune Institute of Virology will be set up in Kozhikode. This will avoid the delay in getting the result. Control rooms have started functioning in government guest house. Those on the contact list should contact the call center if they have any symptoms. Awareness activities are being conducted in the affected areas under the leadership of local body institutions.


In the wake of Nipah being confirmed in Kerala, Tamil Nadu is on high alert. Passengers reaching Tamil Nadu from Kerala will be strictly checked. The inspection is in the districts sharing border with Kerala. Isolation system has been arranged for those with symptoms of fever.
