Meanwhile, two health workers who came in contact with Nipah patients were found to have symptoms including fever. They were shifted to observation. Their samples have also been sent for testing.
The health department had released the route map of the 47-year-old man who died of Nipah in Maruthonkara. He started showing symptoms on August 22 and died on August 30 after being admitted to the hospital. He was the first to die from Nipah and there are 371 people in his contact list. There are 201 people in the contact list of the Ayancheri native who died on the 11th. The 9-year-old under treatment has 50 people in his contact list.
There are currently 702 people in the contact list from three Nipah cases in Kozhikode. Health workers have also been diagnosed with symptoms and their samples have been sent for testing. Panchayat president K Sajith said there is no need to worry in Maruthonkara. Necessary restrictions have been put in place. RRTs are assigned in containment zones. Sajith also stated that those who came in contact with the deceased have been found.
