KOLLAM: Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's statement in the court that Ganesh Kumar was estranged from him is out. The statement given in the Kottarakkara court that Ganesh Kumar, who had to resign from his ministry, was estranged from him after he was unable to become a minister again, has come out now.
The statement was recorded in a case filed by Sudhir Jacob, who is also a former district government pleader, in the Kottarakkara court demanding that the truth be proved in the case and that there is a conspiracy in adding four pages to the letter that came out.
A five-page copy of the statement has been released. It is said in the first parts of the transcript that Ganesh Kumar was the Forest-Environment Minister in Oommen Chandy's cabinet when he assumed office as the Chief Minister on May 18, 2011, and after the police registered a case on the basis of a family complaint, the opposition put pressure on Ganesh Kumar to resign and then Ganesh resigned as Minister.
It is said that the problem was settled later and Ganesh wanted to come back to the ministry but it was not possible due to various reasons and since then Ganesh had distanced himself from Oommen Chandy. The copy of the statement came out when the court was going to consider the petition to investigate the conspiracy behind the letter on the 25th.
