KOCHI: Justice Devan Ramachandran directed the government that the High Court order that a marriage can be registered even if the bride and groom are present only through video conferencing should be implemented within two weeks and a report should be submitted. he High Court was hearing the petition filed by Teresa Davis of Thevara and her husband Savio Joseph Thomas of Vazhoor against the rejection of this demand by the marriage officer.

In 2023, a division bench of the High Court had ordered that the marriage should be registered even if the bride and groom appear online. The single bench suggested ensuring the process considering the situation of having to approach the High Court for the same. It was also ordered to register the marriage and issue the certificate if there are no other legal issues in the case of the petitioners.
