KOZHIKODE: In view of the Nipah outbreak, a holiday has been announced for all educational institutions in the district today and tomorrow. The holiday also applies to anganwadis, madrasas and professional colleges. It is also notified that the exams can be conducted online.
Following the Nipah outbreak, more containment zones have been announced in Kozhikode district. 11 wards of four panchayats have also been declared as containment zones. The panchayats of Thiruvallur, Kayakodi, Changaroth and Pumaari were the last to be made into containment zones. This is in addition to the earlier seven panchayats.
Public events and gatherings have been banned in the district for ten days. The cabinet meeting scheduled for today has been postponed to tomorrow. New treatment guidelines have also been issued following the Nipah outbreak. Quarantine has been made mandatory for those in direct contact with patients. Anyone with fever should seek treatment immediately. The new treatment guidelines also say that the infection control system should be properly implemented in hospitals. Alert has been issued in Malappuram and Wayanad.
