NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that the opposition alliance in India aims to undermine Sanatana Dharma and appears to be attempting to subjugate the country for a prolonged period. He made these comments in response to Tamil Nadu Minister Udayanidhi Stalin's remarks on Sanatana Dharma, marking his first public response on the matter. The Prime Minister delivered these remarks during an event in Madhya Pradesh where elections are impending.
"They recently convened a conference in Mumbai, where they seem to have outlined the policy and strategy for their 'alliance of arrogance.' They appear to have also formulated a clandestine agenda. Their decision appears to be focused on challenging the beliefs, values and culture that have united the country for generations.
This presumptuous coalition seems to be intent on undermining Sanatana Dharma, which has been a source of inspiration for figures like Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Rani of Jhansi and Lakshmibai who dared to challenge British rule. Mahatma Gandhi considered Sanatana Dharma essential in his life finding inspiration in Lord Rama throughout his journey. Swami Vivekananda and Lokmanya Tilak were similarly influenced by Sanatana Dharma. It is this cultural heritage that motivated freedom fighters to wish for reincarnation in the embrace of Mother India.
It is likely that they will escalate their attacks on us in the days ahead. Every supporter of Sanatana Dharma, every individual who loves this country and its people, should remain vigilant. Their intentions appear to be to erode Sanatana Dharma and turn back the clock, subjecting the country to a thousand years of servitude. However, we must collectively thwart such efforts through our strong organizational capabilities," Modi declared.
