LUCKNOW: In a shocking incident, officials of a juvenile home in Uttar Pradesh were caught cruelly beating up the children. The incident took place in a juvenile home in Agra. The incident came to light after the CCTV footage from the juvenile home surfaced on social media.

The video shows an official mercilessly thrashing the girls lying in the room with slippers. Agra Police Commissioner Ritu Maheshwari informed that Home Superintendent Poonam Pal and other officials have been suspended in connection with the incident. The Commissioner added that the District Magistrate has been asked to take strict action in the incident.

The other day, the Agra District Judge, Additional District Judge, and Shelter Home Committee Chairperson visited the juvenile home in connection with the incident. Tobacco products and beedis were recovered from the rooms of the minor children. It was also found that the children were not given adequate food.

Naresh Paras, a child rights activist, came forward criticizing the authorities. It was also found that Poonam Pal had treated children cruelly while she served as superintendent in Prayagraj. Meanwhile, some reports are claiming that a child attempted suicide a few days ago in the juvenile home in Agra.
