THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Things were all plain sailing in the state film award ceremony on Thursday until actor Alencier Ley Lopez took the podium to deliver his thanking speech. Nonetheless to say, with his acerbic take on the female stylized figure on the award statuette, the actor has again invited controversy.
“ It is an insult to give me this statuette with a female-stylized figure. At a stage shared by a macho man CM Pinarayi Vijayan, I expect an award statuette with a male figure. The female one is kind of luring me” The actor’s comment was galloped with mansplaining. Alencier was speaking after receiving the Special Jury Award for his performance in the film ‘Appan’.
“ I was planning to head home after taking the award. The statuette weighed too much for me to handle(pun intended). It is no big task to get the Best Actor award. It is normal. But to achieve a special jury award, one needs to have a knack and I have achieved that. So the government should have given me the award statuette brushed in gold. Please don’t insult me and actor Kunchako Boban with a mere Rs 25,000. We need more money. I am requesting Gautam Ghosh to look into the matter. Please don’t insult me with this special jury award. “ Alencier said.
