KOZHIKODE: Eleven samples that were collected from Kozhikode yesterday tested negative for Nipah virus on Thursday. The test results came in the evening. Meanwhile, 15 samples from the high-risk contact list were sent for testing today.

There are 950 people on the contact list, including 287 health workers. 5161 houses were inspected. The condition of the nine-year-old, who is on the ventilator after being diagnosed with Nipah, remains critical. The condition of the 24-year-old health worker and the brother-in-law (25) of the deceased Muhammad is satisfactory.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar reviewed the steps taken in Kozhikode. She visited ICMR NIV Institute, Pune to assess the preparations. An all-party meeting will be held under the leadership of Minister PA Mohammed Riyas. A route map of those who tested positive for Nipah has been released. The central team assessed the situation in the district.
