THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man was arrested for sexually assaulting a girl in the promise of marriage. Cherthala native Samlal(29) was arrested by Vanchiyur police on Thursday. According to the case, the accused met the girl through Facebook and befriended her giving fake promises of marriage.

He took the girl to cinemas, hotels, and later to Kanyakumari, where the two engaged in copulation. After this, the accused started distancing from the girl and tried to escape from the alliance which forced the victim to lodge a complaint. The accused was produced in court and was later remanded.
