THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government is preparing to reshuffle the cabinet, strengthening the lineup of constituent parties. It is reported that constituent parties including LJD, RSPL and NCP have demanded ministerial posts.
RSPL MLA Kovoor Kunjumon has requested the LDF to appoint him as a minister, given his five-time MLA status. Kovoor Kunjumon is the MLA of the faction that remained with the LDF even after the RSP split. NCP MLA Thomas K Thomas has also expressed his willingness to serve as a minister. LJD and a section of JDS are also vying for ministerial positions.
A previous report indicated that Ganesh Kumar and Kadannapally Ramachandran would replace Antony Raju and Ahmed Devarkovil as ministers. This was in accordance with the earlier agreement that parties with only one MLA would be given ministerial posts for two and a half years each. Subsequently, other constituent parties also began competing for ministerial positions. According to the report, there is a possibility that the departments of CPM ministers will change. The reorganization is expected to take place in November.
A N Shamseer may resign as Speaker. If it is decided to remove Veena George from the ministerial post, he will be considered for the position of Speaker. In that case, Shamseer would join the cabinet. It is suggested that Shamseer may be assigned the health department.
