KOZHIKODE: It has been confirmed that the person who died on the 30th of last month was infected with Nipah. The sample test result of the native of Maruthonkara was found to be positive. Health Minister Veena George said that it is clear from the results obtained so far that it was from this person that the infection spread to others. The minister was speaking to the media after the Nipah review meeting.

On August 30, the fluid from the throat of the deceased was sent for examination. This result was positive. 30 health workers of the hospital where there was a super spread were sent for saliva testing. The result is negative. The route map of the Kozhikode Cheruvannur native who tested positive has been published. Cheruvannur has been declared as a containment zone. Six positive cases and 83 negative cases have been detected so far. The health minister said that 1080 people are in the contact list, of which 122 are high-risk health workers. 22 persons from Malappuram district, 3 persons from Kannur-Thrissur and one from Wayanad are in the contact list. Their samples will be tested.

Meanwhile, educational institutions will not open for another week in Kozhikode district due to the spread of Nipah. The health minister also informed that instructions have been given to conduct classes online from primary level to professional colleges.
