SRINAGAR: The encounter between Indian forces and Pakistani terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag has entered its fifth day. Hundreds of Indian troops, including para commandos, are clashing in the thick forests of Gadol. The Indian Army is giving a strong response to the firing by the terrorists under the cover of thick forests.
Two soldiers and a policeman lost their lives in the encounter that continued for a hundred hours. Two soldiers were injured and one was missing. It is estimated that two or three armed terrorists are engaged in an encounter with the army. Indian forces deployed hundreds of motorized shells and rockets against the terrorists during the fighting that started last Wednesday. There are also sophisticated drones to assist the forces.
The joint operation by the army and the police started on Tuesday night based on a tip-off. The forces are facing a severe challenge to evacuate the injured and killed soldiers amid heavy firing by terrorists. A part of the forest was burnt during the shelling. It is also not clear whether the terrorists were killed in the fight.
