THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IMD has said that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rains in the state. Yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. Rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours is considered as heavy rains.

IMD said that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour at isolated places in the state today and tomorrow, and rain with thunder and lightning on September 19 and 21.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has also warned that there is a possibility of waves of 0.6 to 2.0 meters in height in the coastal areas of Kerala till 6:30 pm on Sunday and that fishermen and coastal residents should be cautious.
