Latha was attacked on the nose by a street dog that used to frequent her home. Albeit being bitten, Latha refused to take a preventive vaccination and cared less about the issue. After some days, She started showing symptoms of rabies and the condition quickly turned serious and was beyond redemption. Even CJI D Y Chandrachud raised concern over the burgeoning number of street dogs that are turning into nightmares for commuters and children.

The street dog issue came up when the chief justice noticed a wound on the lawyer's hand after being attacked by a dog. It was Adv Kunal Chatterjee’s bandaged hand that brought CJI to inquire about the street dog menace. Advocate Kunal said that four or five dogs were stationed near his house and termed them a menace.
