NEW DELHI: The allegation made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, suggesting India's involvement in the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar has been deemed politically motivated by the Ministry of External Affairs. The allegation is considered prejudicial. During a press conference, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated that Canada has not provided any specific information either before or after making these claims. India is willing to thoroughly examine any information that Canada may present on this matter, but as of now, no information has been received from Canada.

Additionally, Arindam Bagchi mentioned that India has temporarily halted visa processing for Canadian citizens due to threats against representatives of the Indian High Commission and Consulate in Canada. He further noted that this matter is currently under investigation. India has also suggested reducing the number of diplomats at the Canadian High Commission in India. Regarding the security of the Indian Consulate in Canada in the current situation, Arindam Bagchi clarified that it is the responsibility of the host country's government to ensure the security of consulates for all nations.
