THRISSUR: CPM state secretary MV Govindan will arrive in Thrissur today as the Congress and BJP intensify their protests in the wake of the Karuvannur scam. He will inaugurate the general meeting on the occasion of Azhikodan Raghavan Martyrdom Day.
Meanwhile, Congress and BJP are preparing to intensify their protest against the leaders accused in the Karuvannur scam. MV Govindan is reaching Thrissur when people ranging from state leaders to local leaders are being accused in the scam.
Central committee member and minister K Radhakrishnan, state secretariat member PK Biju, state committee member AC Moideen MLA and others will participate in the conference. After hoisting the flag at the Azhikodan memorial at 8 am today, wreaths will be laid at the specially prepared Smriti Mandapam at Chettiyangadi where Azhikodan was stabbed. Red volunteer march and mass rally will be held at 4 pm. The general meeting will be held at 5pm. Although protest meetings were organized against the Center and the ED on the Karuvannur issue, the public meeting is to ensure more public attention.
Meanwhile, a cooperative protection padayatra led by DCC president Jose Vallur and TN Prathapan MP will be held on 29th demanding the arrest of CPM leaders and refund of money to the victims of fraud. Depositors and partners will also participate in the padayatra. KPCC Working President Siddique MLA will inaugurate the meeting at Karuvannur Bank premises at 8 am and K Sudhakaran MP will inaugurate the concluding public meeting in front of the Collectorate at 4 pm.
Suresh Gopi's padayatra led by BJP will start in front of Karuvannur Bank on the day of Gandhi Jayanti. Family members of those who committed suicide and those who suffered due to loss of bank deposits will also rally in the padayatra, which will conclude in Thrissur. State President K Surendran will inaugurate the padayatra. MT Ramesh will also address the concluding session. BJP will also organize protests at panchayat level.
