NEW DELHI: Chief Justice DY Chandrachud indicated that a permanent constitution bench will be formed to consider issues including the entry of women to Sabarimala. The move is to set up permanent benches with five, seven and nine members.

Starting with Sabarimala, issues related to religious beliefs and customs are being considered by the Supreme Court's nine-member bench. Many judges who were its members retired. The Chief Justice gave the indication of a permanent bench in a situation where the bench needs to be reconstituted. 306 cases are under consideration by the five member bench.
