CHENNAI: DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Saturday said that the DMK will announce its decision regarding the alliance with Kamal Haasan's party Makkal Needhi Maiam during the time of the elections. The DMK leader's reaction came after Kamal Haasan announced that he would contest from Coimbatore. Kamal Haasan, the founder leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam, announced yesterday that he will contest from Coimbatore as the party was receiving huge acceptance from the people of the constituency.
Udayanidhi Stalin's reaction indicates that the ruling DMK is also testing the possibility of an alliance. Meanwhile, the opposition AIADMK is trying to bridge the rift in its alliance with the BJP.
BJP state president K Annamalai's controversial remarks against former minister CN Annadurai had worsened the relationship between the two parties. The AIADMK-BJP alliance has not been able to reach an agreement on seat-sharing as well. A group of senior AIADMK leaders reached the national capital yesterday to discuss and resolve these issues with the BJP central leadership.
