PALAKKAD: A small-scale fire was found under the bogies of Nizamuddin Express. The fire broke out under two bogies of the Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Express on Saturday night. The passengers who noticed the fire immediately informed the railway officials. Following this, the fire was extinguished after evacuating the passengers from the train. Officials said that there was no need to worry and that the train would continue its journey till Nizamuddin.
In the wake of the Elathur train attack, the IndianRailways is on a desperate drive to prevent a repeat of such incidents. The attack took place on April 2 on the D1 coach of the Alappuzha-Kannur Express train. The accused, Shahrukh Saifi, doused the bogie with petrol and set it ablaze. Three people, including a woman and her relative's child, were killed that day.
