BENGALURU: A former DMK leader who was undergoing treatment after being attacked by a gang of five has passed away. V K Guruswamy, the former president of the Madurai constituency succumbed to his injuries. He was stabbed by an unidentified gang at a restaurant in Bangalore and unfortunately did not survive his treatment. CCTV footage capturing the group wielding swords during the attack on Guruswamy is widely circulating on social media.

Guruswamy had more than 30 criminal cases pending against him including eight counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder. He was seated with a friend at Sukhsagar, a restaurant in Kammanahalli, Bangalore when a gang of five arrived in a car with Tamil Nadu registration and assaulted him with a sword on September 4th. The police have reported an ongoing investigation into this incident.

It has been noted by the police that there were over 70 cut marks on Guruswamy's body. The suspects involved in the case have been apprehended. The police have concluded that Guruswamy's murder was the result of a conflict between two rival gangs in Madurai.
