THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have registered a case on the complaint of Minister Veena George's personal staff member Akhil Mathew. Akhil Mathew lodged the complaint after Malappuramm native Haridasan accused him of taking a bribe for the appointment of a medical officer. The police registered the case on charges of cheating. The Cantonment police recorded Akhil's statement. Akhil told the police that he did not know the complainant or the middleman.
The accused has been mentioned as anonymous in the complaint. It is said in the FIR that the accused took money from Malappuram native Haridas by posing as Akhil Mathew. Akhil filed the complaint on the instructions of the minister.
The investigation will be against Pathanamthitta native Akhil Sajeev. In his complaint lodged with the Health Minister, Haridasan stated that it was Akhil Sajeev, former office secretary of CITU, who introduced Akhil Mathew from the minister's personal staff. The complainant said that the minister's staff demanded Rs 5 lakh for the appointment and that he paid Rs 1.75 lakh.
