THRISSUR: A 70-year-old lady who was receiving treatment after attempting suicide passed away on Thursday. Thangamani, a native of Koratty, passed away today evening. She was one of the three family members who attempted suicide after receiving an attachment notice from the Cooperative Bank. Thangamani's daughter Bhagyalakshmi (38) and son Athul Krishna (10), who also took sleeping pills along with her, have recovered.
All three were rushed to the hospital on Sunday after it was found that they had taken too much sleeping pills. Bhagyalakshmi added sleeping pills to the payasam she made, gave it to her son and mother, and then ate it herself. When Bhagyalakshmi's husband Vatsan reached home, he found the three in a state of exhaustion. He then immediately rushed them to the hospital in Chalakudy and later to Angamaly with the help of neighbors.
