KOCHI: A young astrologer fell victim of honey trapping by a woman and her friend in Kochi. 'Athira Athira'.. the young astrologer, a native of Azheekkal in Kollam, never thought that he would become a victim of a honeytrap model robbery when accepted a friend request from a stranger on Facebook. She established a cordial relationship with him in a short time after asking about some poojas and about the offerings to eliminate evil things. She then invited him to the hotel in Edappally for a pooja, drugged him and then robbed his gold of 13 sovereigns and a mobile phone of Rs 30,000.
The hotel staff rescued the youth found lying unconscious. Then with the help of his relatives approached the police. The Elamakara police have started an investigation for Athira (30), a native of Wadakkanchery in Thrissur and her aide Arun (34), a native of Thiruvananthapuram. The incident happened last Sunday. He reached Ernakulam in his own car as requested by her. Met his Facebook friend in Kaloor.
She then told the astrologer that her close friend Arun is in Edapally and then both went there.
The three-member team who reached the hotel in Edapally in the afternoon, took a room pretending Athira and the astrologer to be husband wife. Though payasam was offered to the astrologer, he refused to have it. He was offered a soft drink laced with some drugs.
The astrologer lost a chain of five sovereigns, another chain of three sovereigns and a ring of three sovereigns.
Athira, who came out of the hotel room in the afternoon told the receptionist that her husband is sleeping and asked them to look in on him. They found him lying unconscious when they came in the evening. The astrologer sought treatment at the Ernakulam General Hospital with the help of his relative in Kochi and then on the next day approached the police. Though the CCTV visuals of the hotel were collected, her face was not clear as she had a mask. Her Facebook account was found to have deactivated. The police are trying to retrieve it and trace the accused.
