THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan said that many filmmakers are not ready to open their mouths or protest about the wrong things happening in society. They are afraid that if they say something, they will get a visit from the ED. He was inaugurating the 'Ezhuthu@50' program organized by Thiruvananthapuram Press Club as part of Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai's half-century of writing career.
No one should describe me as an uncrowned king. I am a filmmaker who struggles for a living. Don't call me, who lives like that, an uncrowned king. I live like a very normal person. If I see good things, I will open your mind and say them. If there is a difference of opinion, that will also be said. Not all filmmakers say this. Many filmmakers are looking for where to get the facilities from. People may be calling me an uncrowned king perhaps because I have nothing to fear.
Sreedharan Pillai wrote more than two hundred books in half a century. It is doubtful whether it is humanly possible to write so many books, but he did it. A sense of art and a sense of literature are qualities required for good administrators. People with these skills should come into politics. Only such leaders can interact with the people.
