MALAPPURAM: Complainant Haridasan Kummali repeated his allegation in the police statement that he had handed over money to Akhil P Mathew, the personal assistant of the Health Minister, for the appointment of homeopathic doctor in Ayush Mission. Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment SI Shefin, visited Haridasan's house in Malappuram yesterday and took his statement. The statement recording that started at 9.30 in the morning, continued till 6.30 in the evening.
Haridasan told the media that he answered all the questions of the police and stood by what he said. Akhil Mathew is the one who is believed to have accepted the money. Akhil Mathew's photo was shown by the intermediary Akhil Sajeev. The photo was shown on the phone once. That was months ago. However, the photo of Akhil Mathew shown by the police is different from that.
Phone records and WhatsApp messages were also handed over to the police. Haridasan also said that the police asked about KP Basith, who was tasked to inform the health minister about the demand for money for the appointment. The SI stated that the statement collection of Haridasan has been completed.
Statements of Basith and Lenin will be taken
In the context of Akhil Sajeev's revelation that Haridasan's friend and AISF Malappuram former district president KP Basith and former SFI leader Lenin had received money, the police will take their statements. The police are investigating the complaint of Akhil Mathew in the bribery controversy. Haridasan said that he has not yet thought of filing a complaint directly with the police.
