India continue their medal hunt at the Hangzhou Asian Games. On the sixth day of the competition yesterday, India bagged eight medals including two gold, four silver and two bronze and reached the fourth position in the medal table. India has 33 medals including eight gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze.
Both the golds won by India yesterday came from the shooting range. Palak Gulia won gold in women's 10m air pistol individual event and Aishwari Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Suresh and Akhil Sheiron won gold in rifle 3 position team event. Palak, Isha Singh and Divya Subbarao won silver in women's 10m air pistol team, Isha Singh in individual event and Aishwari Pratap Singh Tomar in 50m rifle 3 position individual event. India won medals in all the four finals held yesterday in the shooting range. Yesterday was the fourth medal of the Asian Games for Aishwari Pratap Singh and Isha Singh.
Saket Maineni and Ramkumar Ramanathan also won silver in men's doubles tennis. The women's squash team won bronze.
Women's medal in shot put after 72 years
Kiran Baliyan became the first Indian women athlete to win a medal in shot put since the first Asian Games in 1951.
