LONDON: The relationship between India and Canada has been deteriorating ever since the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada's allegation that India was behind the killings has aggravated the situation. Now an incident that took place in Scotland has sparked a fresh controversy. Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, was blocked by pro-Khalistan supporters. Vikram Doraiswami was stopped by a group of radical British Sikhs when the High Commissioner was about to enter a Gurudwara in Scotland.
The protesters said that Doraiswami is not welcome in the Gurdwara. Some protesters suggested that Doraiswami had decided to meet with the Glasgow Gurdwara Committee and would not be allowed to do so. The protestors claim that Indians will not be allowed into Gurdwaras in the UK. Neither the Ministry of External Affairs nor the Indian High Commission in the UK have yet commented on the incident.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has accused the Indian intelligence agency of being involved in the killing of Nijjar in June. India-Canada diplomatic relations subsequently soured and the Indian diplomat was expelled. In response, India expelled a senior Canadian diplomat.
