CHENNAI: Actor Vishal has expressed his gratitude for the prompt action taken on his complaint that the officials of the CBFC took a bribe from him for giving a certificate to the Hindi version of his film 'Mark Antony'. The actor had shared a video through X that indicated that he had to pay a bribe of Rs 6.5 lakh to officials to get the film's censor certificate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were tagged in the video. In a note shared on social media, Vishal said that with the immediate action taken in the incident, justice will be given to the victims of corruption, which gives satisfaction to a common man like him.
The actor thanked the Ministry of Information, Communications and Broadcasting for taking immediate action on the issue raised by him. Vishal, who expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said that he is hoping for this to be an example for every government official who intends to or is part of corruption and to take the honest route to serve the nation and not the steps of corruption.

On September 28, the Union Ministry of Information, Communications and Broadcasting announced an inquiry after the actor shared his experience with the Mumbai Central Board of Film Certificate. The actor complained that he had to deposit Rs 3 lakh for the release of the film and Rs 3.5 lakh for the U/A certificate into the account of two people. Vishal had also said that there was no option but to pay the middleman for the release of the film.
