KANNUR: 22-year-old Saneed DB, a native of Sreekandapuram, Kannur, is on an adventurous journey from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram on a bicycle with the front wheel removed. The aim is to create awareness against drug addiction and violence against women. The journey started on Saturday.
The target is to reach Thiruvananthapuram in a month and a half after covering 563 km. Saneed arrived in Kozhikode yesterday. Friends KR Russell from Ullikkal and KK Siddique from Karuvanchal are with him on normal two-wheeled cycles.
Saneed is a stunt rider. He has good practice riding a unicycle. That's why he took the risk to tour Kerala on a bicycle with the front wheel removed. He pedals for half an hour and then rests for a while. Friends with bicycles in front and behind will pave the way in busy areas. It takes a maximum of 30-45 minutes to cover one kilometre. The journey starts in the morning and ends at 7 pm. So far there have been no major difficulties. Last day there was a minor damage to the bicycle but it was fixed.
Saneed is the fifth of six children of Muhammad and Zubaidah. He is a civil engineer and an interior designer. Saneed acted as the dupe of 'Beepathu' played by Kalyani Priyadarshan in the movie Thallumala. All three elder brothers are stunt riders.
''The trip is also to change the misconception that stunt riders are drug addicts. When I started stunting, many people tried to stop me. Now they are all supporting. Stunt ride should be made a sport. - Saneed
