NEW DELHI: It is indicated that Thiruvalla native PP SUjathan was murdered in Delhi during a theft attempt. Sujathan was a businessman and the secretary of the Delhi Dwarka branch of SNDP Yogam. The date of the funeral will be decided after the relatives, including Sujathan's mother, arrive from Thiruvalla. The body was found in a park near Dwarka Mode Metro Station and Tirupati Public School the other day.
The family said that Sujathan had about Rs 5000 with him for his trip to Jaipur. In the CCTV footage collected by the police, three people were seen following Sujathan. The police are planning to expand the investigation after receiving the post-mortem report.
Sujathan had left for Jaipur on Thursday night at ten o'clock for business purposes. On Friday morning, people who went for a morning walk found the body hanging from a tree in the park with wounds on the neck and hands. There were blood stains on the floor.
The police suspect that gangs who hide in parks at night and threaten people with knives and other things are behind Sujathan's murder. Sujathan's mobile phone and wallet are missing. The bag was found abandoned in the park.
Sujathan was very much active in SNDP Yogam and other Malayali organisations. According to his friends, he did not have any enemies.
Sujathan, who had been living in Delhi for 40 years, was initially in the hotel business. Later, he switched to the business of kitchen appliances. He was living with his wife Preethi and children Santhipriya and Amal.
