GANDHINAGAR: A dalit engineer was brutally thrashed on suspicion of stealing diesel. The incident happened last month at Banaskantha in Gujarat. Five of his co-workers thrashed the youth of a private firm in Palanpur.
The 25-year-old youth was being called by his colleagues in the name of birthday celebrations. He was attacked by his colleagues after stopping the vehicle on the roadside, accusing him of stealing diesel. The youth also complained that the gang insulted his caste. The youth is being treated with severe injuries to his limbs including fractures. Police informed that a case has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway.
Meantime, Congress Scheduled Caste (SC) cell chairman Hitendra Pitadia told the media that violence against Dalits is increasing in Gujarat and anti-socials are not afraid of the law.
