THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IMD has warned that rain will intensify in various districts of the state. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph.
The shutters of Neyyar Dam have been raised by 200 cm. The district collector informed that it will be raised by another 80 cm at 4 pm and the residents should be alert. Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in various districts.

A yellow alert has been announced in the above-mentioned districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
IMD has informed that it is not advisable to go fishing in the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coast today due to the possibility of strong winds with speeds of 40 to 45 km per hour and on some occasions up to 55 km per hour in the Kerala coast and the adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep region.
