THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IMD has warned that rain will continue in the state during the night. According to the advisory issued at 7 o'clock, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kottayam districts and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour in the next three hours. According to the IMD, light rain is also possible at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod districts.
Heavy rain continues in the capital. The rain that started in the morning caused misery in the hilly and urban areas. A man has gone missing in the Vamanapuram river. Soman, a resident of Vitura, who was travelling on a scooter across the Ponnamchundu bridge, fell into the river and went missing. Trees fell in Malayinkeezhu, Poovachal and Kattakkada. The water level in Neyyar Dam has risen. Water flow has increased due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas. All four shutters of the dam were opened 70 cm each.
Meanwhile, yellow alert was announced in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kozhikode districts today. The weather department has warned that heavy rain will continue in isolated places for two more days.
