WASHINGTON: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said India-US relations are at an all-time high and bilateral ties between the two countries will go to the moon like Chandrayaan and possibly beyond. He was addressing Indian-Americans at the 'Celebrating Colors of Friendship' program at the Embassy of India in Washington.
India and the US see each other as the most suitable and desirable partners. The success of the G20 would not have been possible without the support of the US. All members of the G20 worked for success. People remember Rajiv Gandhi's visit to the US in 1985, Manmohan Singh's visit in 2005 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visits.
However, PM Modi's recent visits are different because India and the US used to interact with each other before but, they are working with each other now.
The diaspora's contribution to building India-US bilateral relations is astounding. When Jawaharlal Nehru came to the US in 1949, there were 3,000 Indian Americans. During Modi's tenure, it reached nearly 50 lakhs. Today's India is different. It is the India of Chandrayaan and 5G, Jayashankar said.
