THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam during the next three hours with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph.
A holiday has been declared today in educational institutions up to higher secondary level and anganawadis in Kottayam taluk due to the flood threat. Schools functioning as camps in Changanassery and Vaikom taluks will also remain closed today.
Meantime, the weather department has hinted that after the start of ‘Thulavarsham’ (northeast monsoon) heavy rains will subside in the coming days. Although the monsoon has already weakened in North Kerala, it is clear that the rains will continue in South Kerala.
