Union minister Nitin Gadkari has taken a vow to not use any posters or banners in the upcoming elections. According to him “ people can vote if they like him or not”. Gadkari’s statement came while inaugurating three national highways in Washim, Maharashtra. With the statement, Gadkari also gave a cue about his possible return as a candidate from the Nagpur seat.

Gadkari for his political wisdom and adept official works was rated the best minister in Modi’s cabinet for years. Under his tutelage, India witnessed many flyovers, excellent asphalts, and national highways in a short span of time. All erstwhile ministers got the serotonin when announcing many such projects but they seldom had the knack to make it a reality.

Gadkari was an anomaly. He always graced a smile but was ruthless when it came to official matters. He despised the stagnant mode of work from certain ‘babus’ and even showed guts to call out certain misdeeds from officials at public stages.

Gadkari has thus upended the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India. He prefers the most modern machinery for road construction. Also, he revolutionized the system by completing road construction in just days’ time; a farfetched dream for India until some years back. Earlier, it was common for road construction to hit a roadblock because of the mounting differences between state and central government. But with Gadkari at the helm, such quibbles and the halting of work were reported less. Gadkari had an innate skill to amicably solve tensions with all parties and this helped his political clout to grow sporadically.

It cannot be denied that Gadkari took the initiative to resolve many of the disputes that were hindering the construction of the national highway in Kerala. What sets Gadkari apart is that he has reduced the cost of construction on the one hand, but on the other hand, has more than doubled the quality of road construction by adopting innovative techniques.

Gadkari has also assured about constructing many new roads in Kerala that will cost more than Rs 1000 crore. Even in opposition-ruled states, Gadkari is a revered leader. When he talks, people listen and thus his latest statement to not use banners and posters in his next election will surely be a trending topic for discussion in the coming days.

“ No matter how many posters I put up, only people who want me will vote for me” This was Gadkari’s theory when he expressed his opinion to not use posters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

” I am not corrupt, and I have never taken a bribe from anyone. I have a clean image and my work talks. So it is not needed for me to put up any glitzy campaign to win people. I don’t want to make the streets dirty with my posters and banners. So, people can vote for me if they want” Gadkari opined.

Nitin Gadkari has set a precedent. It is for the roster of other leaders to duly follow him and help make the streets remain neat and hygienic.
