KALLAMBALAM: Alfia (28), the daughter of Abdul Salam and Shahina from Kottarakonam Kalappuram and the wife of auto driver Sajeer from Pudusherrymukku, Sajina Mansil has passed away. Food poisoning is suspected as the cause of her death. The woman, her husband and their children had travelled to Thiruvananthapuram three days ago to seek treatment for the woman's mother. On their way back, they had mushroom curry from a hotel located near the medical college. Subsequently, the young woman began experiencing various health issues including itching and external swelling. She sought treatment at the medical college and started to feel somewhat better, so she returned home.
However, the following evening after consuming shawarma from a shop in Kallampalam, the young woman experienced a recurrence of her previous discomfort. She was admitted to KTCT Hospital and later transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated. She passed away on Monday evening. Sajeer, her husband stated that the cause of death was unlikely to be food poisoning. He mentioned that he and their children had also consumed the same food as his wife and none of them fell ill. His wife had been receiving treatment for an allergy.
