THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An auto driver named Prince did a savior act by jumping into the fast-flowing Killi River to save children who were caught in the high tides. The incident happened around 4 pm on Tuesday.
Anushka (8) and Abhi (10) after school used to return back to their homes through a narrow path very adjacent to the river. On Tuesday while ambling through the path amidst heavy rain, Anushka slipped and fell off into the river. According to Locals, the river was flowing fast with good currents as a result of the torrential rains.
Abhi, who was trying to save his sister, also fell into the water and the accompanying student started screaming in panic. Hearing the screams, Prince jumped into the water without thinking twice. By this time Anushka was swept away to quite some distance, but Prince trailed her and got hold of her school bag.
Prince later got hold of the children and returned back to the shore. Locals rushed them to the hospital and gave necessary treatments. Even though Poojappura police were informed, their response was not sudden and it forced Prince to do the daring act. Prince a native of Pappanamcode reached Jagathy to visit his relatives.
