THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department has informed that rains will continue in the state. There is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam in the next few hours.

Three relief camps have been opened in Thiruvananthapuram taluk. Thiruvananthapuram collector Geromic George has declared a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges and Kendriya Vidyalayas due to continuous heavy rains. All exams to be conducted by the Kerala University have been postponed. The revised date will be announced later. A holiday has been declared for schools functioning as relief camps in Kottayam and Cherthala taluk.


The central meteorological department has informed that till October 5, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour. Fishermen are advised to be cautious as there is a possibility of high waves today.

As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.


Keep fishing vessels (boats, canoes etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.


Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.
