THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran said that the state government and the CPM ruling the bank cannot escape responsibility for the death of Sasi who died without getting the money deposited in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank. "This is the second martyr among investors in Karuvannur. The bank's governing body and CPM are making many people living martyrs as they lost their hard-earned money in co-operative banks.", Surendran said.

"It is an inhumane approach to not pay the necessary money for the emergency surgery of Kolangattu Sasi, a differently abled investor who fell critically ill. The family painfully says that if the money deposited in the bank in the name of Sasi and mother had been returned, the treatment could have been done. Who will answer the question of their family? When the CPM is in power, even the sick are not being treated right", he added.

"If the state government and cooperation department had intervened at the right time, the lives of these innocent people could have been saved. But instead, the CPM leadership and the government tried to save those who committed bank robberies and black money transactions. The government should be ready to bring all the fraudsters of Karuvannur and other co-operative banks in Kerala to justice."

"If not, the BJP will take the initiative for a strong public agitation. There will be no rest for Suresh Gopi and the BJP in Thrissur until the last culprit in Karuvannur is punished. Along with CPM and LDF, UDF has played a role in bringing the cooperative sector, which should be useful to the common man, into the hands of the underworld. That is why the UDF and Congress are not ready to share their concerns when tens of thousands of investors are worried", Surendran alleged.
