THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has convened a conference to coordinate anti-terrorist operations in the face of increasing threat of terrorism in places including Kerala. The meeting will be held in Delhi today and tomorrow. Anti-Terrorism Squad DIG Putta Vimaladitya, and VIP Security DCP G Jaydev will participate from Kerala.

It was found that explosives had been experimented with for several months in forest areas of Goa, Andhra and Karnataka to carry out extreme blasts. They also came in the forest areas of Kasaragod and Kannur. Mohammad Shanavas Alam (Shafi Usama- 31), the leader of the arrested group, aimed to form an Islamic State module centered on Kasaragod. Syed Nabeel Ahmed, a native of Mullassery, who formed the module in Thrissur, was earlier arrested. The team also constantly monitored the movement of VVIPs. It is in this context that the SP in charge of VIP security is participating in the meeting.
