KOCHI: Palarivattam CI Joseph Sajan has been suspended for lapses including delay in filing complaints. Cases against KS Amal (34), accused in a used car fraud case, was not registered on time. Later, the Metro CI took up the investigation and recovered the handcuffs from Amal's flat in Elamakara. In a subsequent internal investigation, it was realized that there was a lapse in registering the FIR and conducting the investigation.
The DCP had received a complaint that despite filing a complaint against Amal, no case was filed and the investigation in the cases taken was slow. Subsequently, the used car fraud was handed over to the Metro CI for investigation. DCP S Sasidharan said the handcuffs did not belong to the city police. The details of handcuffs were collected from the police stations in the district. It is indicated that the accused made the purchase online. An air pistol and a beacon light were also recovered. Amal had told the clients that he was a policeman and under suspension. This can be convincingly held by these. Amal, who ran a used car showroom named AB Cars in Palarivattom, was arrested in August. There were 10 cases against him.
